ASSESSMENT OF WIND POTENTIAL

A location is suitable for a small wind turbine when the average wind speed exceeds 3m/s.

For a first estimation the following table can give significant hints. If the local wind moves leaves and thin twigs most of the time, then you will have good wind conditions for a small wind turbine at your location.
